Research interests: I’m interested in the miRNA silencing pathway and how this relates to the phenotypes we see in disease. For my rotation project, I am observing the interactions of proteins in RISC, miRNA, and the target mRNA using fluorescence microscopy. Uncovering the mysteries of RISC and other components in the miRNA silencing pathway may give rise to new therapeutic targets and allow researchers to take advantage of this pathway for other applications.
Fun facts: Outside of lab, I enjoy baking and sewing dresses. Also, I can replace the first letter of every word in “Yankee Doodle” with any letter in the alphabet and recite it 🙂
